I absolutely love training with Kim. She pushes me to try new exercises and challenges me to keep going when the workout gets tough!

KIM RUSSELL

OWNER | PERSONAL TRAINER | HEALTH COACH |

For over 15 years, Kim has been assisting people with their exercise and nutrition goals. She aims to help clients get stronger, improve movement, feel better, and eat balanced. Kim has been referenced by her clients as passionate, personal, supportive, knowledgable and fun! Kim meets every individual where they are and believes that small changes are best for a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.

  • Where’s she from?

Kim was born and raised in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. It wasn’t until 2017 that she moved away for the first time and landed in Eugene.

    Kids? Pets?

Kim is married to Justin and have two rescue pups that they love adventuring with. Rory-a short brown boy and Newman, a tall black and white boy. A new addition to the family is Chino the black and white tuxedo cat.

    Fitness Journey?

Kim grew up playing sports, including softball, volleyball, and her favorite - basketball. It was during her high school days that her interest peaked for strength training and has continued since. Kim began road racing when she was 25 and cycling when she was 32 which goes to show, it’s never too late or you’re never too old to fall in love with fitness.

    Fitness Accomplishments?

From running, to cycling, to just having fun on the weekends, her list is impressive:

Sprint, Olympic and Half Ironman Triathlons

A dozen ‘mud races’ including the Spartan Series and ToughMudder

Numerous road races of all distances.

    Mountain races including

    Squamish 23k

    Whistler Alpine Meadows 25k

Ultraruns including the Oregon Coast 50k

Cycling - Sufferfest ‘Dame’, Blackberry Bramble Century, Willamette Pass, and around Crater Lake

Why do you love to stay fit?

Staying fit has allowed me to explore so much beauty that the PNW offers. I have been able to accomplish epic adventures whether it be running up or around mountains such as South Sister, Three Fingered Jack, Broken Top, and Mt. Fuji (to name a few!)

What is your most memorable race?

The Oregon Coast 50k. My husband ran with me and filmed my experience with a GoPro. I really pushed myself to the limit to get a 6 hour finish.

    What is your favorite activity?

I love to ski, although I don’t get to do it much.

    What is your favorite exercise?

I love them all because each one provides a benefit (but if I have to pick one, the deadlift!)

What’s your fitness advice to others?

Consider prevention and the aging process. No one is excused from getting older, therefore we must take the appropriate measures NOW to ensure that we can be independent as long as possible. To be able to remain mobile and engage in daily movements such as sitting and standing-all movements that some of us probably take for granted. Some things are out of our control, but much of it isn't. Being a personal trainer, I often hear about weight gain as the main complaint-which isn't necessarily good but what if it is more about aging gracefully and living life in a beneficial way that promotes movement and longevity?

It’s your last meal? What is it?

I would indulge in a Beyond Meat Brat (or two) with sautéed onions and mustard.

    Fun Fact?

I am an avid blood and platelet donor and aiming for 100 donations.

What is your most unusual talent?

I can do a baby freeze
